The rink will most likely be open from January through March and is a good place for other low-key activities like sledding, playing hockey, and strolling, Mayor Mark Sokolich told northjersey.com.

No one knows for sure why the rink was originally shut down, but operated last season for the first time in 4 decades, northjersey.com reported.

The rink was resurrected in 2014 with refurbishing and a ribbon cutting Jan. 9, as part of a return to community centered events, northjersey.com said.

The mayor — who remembers skating at the rink as a child — says there is more interest now in home-town activities in Fort Lee, according to northjersey.com.

The rink will be open until 10 p.m. during skating season.
